All About Lashes

So we covered Brows. This month is all about Lashes! I LOVE dramatic lashes. I like big lashes even at 8am, all day every day. The funny part is I don’t wear falsies. I know shock horror, Not because I don’t like them but because I’m lazy. I’m lucky to have pretty decent lashes but I want MOAR. I’m always on the hunt for a new mascara. Buying way more than I need and constantly trying out new samples. I have about eight mascaras on rotation right now, can’t help myself. That said I’m very picky when it comes to mascara. I want full lashes but not clumpy, no spider lashes – not sure when that became a thing but if you like the look, work it! A perfect mascara is one that defines and separates my lashes giving them length and volume without the clump.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara (0.24oz/$21.00) According to Tarte this mascara has a high-performance formula proven to increase the appearance of lash volume by 330 percent. Not sure how they came up with that number but this is mascara is amazing! I’m on my third tube. It’s hard to find a comparison because this contains natural ingredients that are good for your lashes. It has Rice Bran Wax, Carnauba wax, ProVitamin B and Olive Esters, which helps lengthen and thicken lashes while conditioning and protecting them. It’s like a hair treatment for your lashes and that’s a plus in my book. I love the wand, I’m not real big on plastic wands. This has an old-fashioned brush that I prefer. It also has great color payoff. It’s a true jet black that gives a false lash effect.

YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara in #5 Burgundy ($32.00) Love the YSL Faux Cils mascaras, my favorite is the Burgundy color. I love how this makes my lashes look. I’ve received compliments while wearing this mascara. There’s just something about it. The color is not too obvious, it’s much more subtle on the eyes than it is on the wand but it creates the most beautiful eye-catching effect. This mascara has a wet formula but it doesn’t smear or smudge on me at all. The brush is my favorite; it gives my lashes a nice feathery look. This shade would look so beautiful on blue or green eyes. It’s pricey but it’s definitely worth it.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (0.07oz/$11.50) I spoke about this mascara in my July 2016 Favorites. I really love the tiny brush. The tube is compact and convenient for travel. Most importantly the formula is superb, it separates my bottom lashes without clumping or flaking and it lasts all day. This little guy is an absolute staple for me.

Next the Maybelline’s Volum’ Express Falsies Big Eyes Mascara in Blackest Black (0.03oz/$7.99) this is a dual ended mascara; one side has a thin brush for bottom lashes. This reminds me of the Bourjois Volumizer Mascara, which was my favorite for years. Unfortunately, it’s not available in the US but this Maybelline one fills the void. Sometimes I use it the same way I would the Bourjois Volumizer, in a two-step system using the thin wand first to define and the thicker wand to build volume. Mainly I just use the thin wand for both top and bottom lashes. It lengthens my lashes while making them look natural, it’s a great everyday mascara.

Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara (£6.99) My love for overseas mascara is evident. I discovered this through Wayne Goss and was blown away by his demo; my head exploded like a Fembot. This has to be my favorite drugstore mascara. I bought it in Boots on my last trip to London and I regret not buying backups. It keeps my lashes looking full and fluttery all day.

Finally, the Recourbe Cils De Chanel Precision Eyelash Curler ($34.00) Do you really need a Chanel eyelash curler? No. Don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome lash curler. I’ve had this for years and it works great. And unlike the Shu Uemura lash curlers, this one comes with refills. I recommend it if you’re looking to invest in a luxury curler. However, there are definitely more affordable options out there that work just as well. Tweezerman makes great eyelash curlers and before buying the Chanel I used a Revlon one for years.

On my wish list: It Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Length Black Mascara Primer and the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara. If you have these please let me know your thoughts or if you have any new recommendations I would love to hear them!
