City of Romance

Truman Capote once said, “Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go.” I know exactly what he meant. Venice is deliciously intoxicating. I’ve been to Venice three times and each time I leave wanting more. This glorious city built on water is extraordinary; it’s one of my favorite places in the world to photograph.

There’s a lot of walking in Venice. It’s really the best way to enjoy the beautiful architecture surrounding you. Be sure to take the Vaporetto down the Canal Grande, there is a magnificent view from the canal. For a touch of romance, a Gondola ride is a must. Don’t forget to do your best Madonna ‘Like A Virgin‘ video impersonation. Just Kidding…Almost.

One of my favorite spots is the Piazza San Marco, once there you can visit the Basilica San Marco and the Palazzo Ducale. Venice is well known for its bridges. The most famous being the Ponte di Rialto and the Ponte dei Sospiri or Bridge of Sighs. If you and your partner are up for a romantic adventure, legend has it that lovers will be granted eternal love and bliss if they kiss on a gondola at sunset under the Bridge of Sighs as the bells of Campanile di San Marco toll.

There’s no place in the world like it. I love the scenery, the people, the hidden corners and secret spots. And there’s a Madonna in every corner to protect you in case you get lost. Here are some of my favorite photographs of Venice. Enjoy!
