September in the rain

September Beauty Favorites | 2020

Hi everybody, I hope you’re staying healthy and safe. September was a rough month. Working on my blog has provided a much needed distraction. It brings me so much joy. I know it’s the same for many of you who love beauty. Thank you for reading my blog. Even if you only read a sentence, it truly means the world to me.

I’m back at the office part-time and have few beauty products to share. Warning, there’s not a lot of makeup in this post. I have been going ham on eye shadow recently, mainly the Victoria Beckham Eye Brick in Silk, and I so miss a red lip. Before we get into September faves, I want to tell you about The Green Haven Project

The Green Haven Project

In my last post, I mentioned a few organizations that address food insecurity in vulnerable neighborhoods. The Green Haven Project is a local organization in Miami providing healthy, nutritious, and affordable food to people in need. They have a community garden in Overtown, Miami. For many years the people of Overtown had to rely only on food available to them. The Green Haven Project is working to change that. Their goal is to help its residents obtain fresh and free produce.

They always need volunteers; people can go and work in the beautiful garden. Being able to sustain and nourish yourself is powerful. Everyone should have access to good food. If you live in Miami, please check them out and consider donating.

Machete Atlas Hoops in Clear

Crystal Clear

My hunt for Lucite earrings has come to an end; I finally found the perfect pair. The Machete Atlas Clear Hoops. What drew me in was the shape; it’s such a cool and unique design. They make a bold statement without going over the top. I loved these in the summer and even going into fall, I know I’ll wear them all the time.

If you’re a sucker for earrings, you’ll want to check out their website. They have a gorgeous selection of hoops in different shapes and styles. All their jewelry is handmade from eco-friendly materials like Bio-acetate, recycled brass, ethically sourced gold, and silver. Great customer service too.

Two from Jordan Samuel

Jordan Samuel Skin Granita di Caffè Body Scrub

I’ve been on the waitlist for Jordan Samuel’s Hydrate The Mist seems like forever. It finally came back in stock, so I took advantage and also purchased the Skin Granita di Caffè Body Scrub. Both are amazing! The scrub has been such a delightful treat this month. It’s gentle and moisturizing. I’ve tried several coffee scrubs over the years, and this one by far has the best scent. Best of all, it leaves my skin so smooth I don’t feel the need to apply lotion after my shower. Coffee-lovers, this is for you.

Jordan Samuel Hydrate The Mist

Another face mist? Yes, but hear me out. I’ve been following Jordan Samuel on Youtube for years. There’s something about his approach to skincare that resonates with me. It’s direct and uncomplicated; it’s all about simple, effective ingredients. I heard so many amazing things about the line, and Hydrate The Mist does not disappoint. It makes my skin feel comfortable, supple, and hydrated.

It contains Red Seaweed, Hyaluronic Acid, Cucumber Extract, and Glycerin, all beneficial to the skin. The scent is light and fresh, not overpowering. I use Hydrate The Mist exclusively in the morning, along with my skincare. That’s not to say I won’t use it as a makeup setting spray in a pinch. It checks all the boxes. It refreshes, it soothes and adds moisture while giving your skin good ingredients. It’s also a great price point for the amount of product you receive. I highly recommend it.

Fresh from my handbag

Chanel La Crème Main Texture Riche

The non-stop hand washing has taken a toll on my dry skin. A good hand cream is a must, even more so now. Lately, I’ve been enjoying the Chanel La Crème Main Texture Riche. Yes, we’ve all seen and coveted this little egg, and although the packaging is beautiful, it’s not ideal. Using up the last drop will be difficult, and it seems wasteful.

That said, the product itself is great. I have the rich version; it’s very moisturizing, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t feel greasy at all. Gorgeous scent too! It is a lovely hand cream, and I think if you wanted to treat yourself, you would enjoy it.

Dior Lip Glow

The Dior Lip Glow in 005 Lilac is another handbag favorite. Essentially, it’s a lip balm that reacts to the natural pH of your skin, enhancing your natural lip color. I have a friend who has the same shade, and it looks completely different on her than it does on me. It leaves more of a pink stain on my lips, not so much lilac.

If you read my blog, you know that I love the Dior Lip Scrub, and this works similarly to that. It’s hydrating and comfortable. There’s no need to reapply because the color is there, so I’m Zoom ready. What I love most is that it’s mask-friendly; no transfers or stains whatsoever.

Essie Gel Couture Bubbles Only

Finally, for nail polish (because I truly miss wearing a red lip) is Essie Gel Couture in Bubbles Only. I like to bring this shade out in the fall and wear it through winter and the holiday season. It’s a sophisticated dark red that pretty much goes with everything. You can’t go wrong with any shade in the Essie Gel Couture line; the polishes are exceptional.
