Sandals ala Jackie O

Travel Diary | Capri: Part 3

Today is the third installment of my Capri Travel Diary. I do plan on creating more content on Capri in the future; I feel like I only scratched the surface because there so much to share.

In the meantime, please check out Part 1 and Part 2 in case you’re not familiar with this series. Today’s post is all about what to buy in Capri. Some of these items are only available on the island, and they’re my favorties!

Capri Blue

Corallium Capri

My favorite jewelry store in Capri is Corallium. Located on Via Giuseppe Orlandi, 50 in Anacapri. Corallium is one of the oldest coral boutiques on the island. It’s family owned, and they’ve been in the jewelry business for generations. Enzo and his lovely wife Soraya who run the business now, hand make all the pieces themselves.

They offer a wide selection of genuine coral jewelry as well as semi-precious stones. All the pieces are unique, and you can only find them in Capri. My most loved pieces are the crystal bracelets; I buy one every time I come to Capri. I accidentally broke one of the bracelets, I brought it back years later and Enzo was kind enough to fix it for me at no charge.

The prices range from 10,00 € and they come in many different colors and styles. And you can pick your colors and make your own one of a kind design. This year I got the bracelet in a Capri blue; a beautiful rich bright blue that resemble sapphire. I always get compliments when I wear these bracelets. Enzo and his family are delightful, I always love bringing one of their special pieces home with me.

Capri Sandals

On Monte Solaro Chairlift wearing Antonio Viva Sandals

When ever I visit Capri, I always buy a pair of sandals. Capri is known for their handmade sandals; they’re the epitome of Italian craftsmanship and style. Fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, and Jacqueline Kennedy to name a few wore Capri sandals.

There are many sandal shops all over the island where they custom make them for you on the spot. Here are my two favorite sandal artisans in Capri. Both men are legendary and have been in the business for decades.

Salvatore Pandolfi has been making sandals since he was a little boy. His shop Il Sandalo Caprese, is located in Anacapri in Via Capodimonte, 15 near the Monte Solaro Chairlift. Salvatore is such a sweet, charming man. I jokingly told my husband I was leaving him for the sandal maker. You can see the passion in his eyes, and the pride he takes in his work.

Prices start at around 50,00€. Their jeweled sandals made with Swarovski crystals are beautiful. All his sandals are a work of art; the quality and attention to detail are impeccable

The second shop is L’Arte del Sandalo Caprese di Antonio Viva; it’s located in the heart of Anacapri in via Giuseppe Orlandi al n 75. Antonio Viva is practically a celebrity; he’s been making sandals for over 60 years.

His sandal shop is one of the most popular on the island. The prices range from 50,00 and up, and the designs and colors to choose from are endless. Warning: If you have a shoe fetish, you’ll want to buy them all!

Capri Treats

Buonocore Gelateria

One of the things I always do in Capri is going to Buonocore and get a Caprilu. Buonocore is a gelateria and pastry shop known for their delectable desserts. Their famous Caprilu cookie is made with almonds, lemon, vanilla, and honey and topped with powdered sugar- that’s it! So simple, so perfect and yummy. I highly recommend picking up a box of Caprilu – you won’t be sorry!

Finally, you can’t go to Capri and not come home with some Limoncello. I always bring back a few bottles for family and friends. The hand painted bottles come in an array of designs and are available in several sizes. They make a lovely gift.

We buy our Limoncello at a local shop in Anacapri called Cocktail. They have the best prices and they also have a large selection of wines, dry pasta, and sweets.
