Back to Basics

February Favorites | 2018

Hi everyone! It’s time again for favorites. I was sick with flu and it just took every ounce of energy from me, so I don’t have a lot of makeup this month. However, I have body care items and the cutest pair of earrings I have to tell you about…

Body Care

Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Smoothing Body Butter

First, the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Smoothing Body Butter (8oz/$5.98). I’ve been using this body butter for a solid two months, and it’s amazing! I’m a big fan of the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant line. I love their Body Gel Oil so I was excited to try the body butter. As you can see from the photo, it’s very well loved.

It smells divine, and it’s really thick and hydrating. I love the consistency; it reminds me of chocolate frosting in a way. It’s fast-absorbing and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. My mom used it when she was visiting me and insisted I pick one up for her. I immediately bought one for her and a back up for myself.

Dove Advanced Care Sensitive Anti-Perspirant Deodorant

Next, the Dove Advanced Care Sensitive Anti-Perspirant Deodorant (2.6oz/$4.69). I rarely switch my deodorant, but I gave this a go and I love that it feels light. There’s no wetness or sticky residue; it almost feels like I didn’t put anything on. It’s unscented so if you have sensitive skin this is perfect for you. And it doesn’t leave marks on my shirt which is always a plus. *Both products were kindly sent to me for consideration. I was not asked to speak about them, as always all opinions are my own.

Another one from Bumble and Bumble

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Dry Oil Finishing Oil Primer

Last month I purchased the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Dry Oil Finishing Oil Primer (2oz/$12.00). It’s a do-it-all product because it’s a heat protectant, it detangles and acts like a deep conditioner. I loved their Dry Oil Finishing Spray so much I had to try this. I just spritz in some after I wash my hair and it leaves my hair frizz free and smooth, and it smells so good!

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm

My lips were shredded this month and in serious need of some TLC. I got back on the Nuxe Rêve de Miel (15ml/$15.00) and they feel a lot better. It’s different from any other lip balm I’ve tried, it’s thick and nourishing. I put on a generous amount at night like a lip mask, and I can still feel it on my lips the next day.

Forgotten Favorite

I’ve been back on my good old eyeliner pot and brush. I forgot how much I like them. The brush makes application easy and I love the gel formula. It’s definitely my favorite way to apply eyeliner. I’ve been using the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink (0.1oz/$27.00). It’s such a good long lasting formula, I’ve repurchased it a few times over the years.

The other is the MAC Pro Longware Fluidline (0.1oz/$17.50). The shade is Dark Diversion, a deep burgundy. Sadly, it’s been discontinued. For a drugstore option, the Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner ($9.99) is amazing. The brush I use is the MAC 263 Small Angle Brush ($20.00). I find it’s the best one for gel liner because it’s nice and firm, and it’s great for brows too.

Style fave

My final favorite is a pair of earrings I’ve been wearing non-stop. They were a birthday present from my friend Ruth and I forgot to mention them in last month’s favorites. These are the Swarovski Funk Pierced Earrings. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on them. They look cool and chic, I love them!
