Review | Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil

Bee Beautiful

Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil

Today I have a review for the Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil (1 oz/$90.00). Before I begin, I want to give you some insight on my skin for reference. I have dry, dehydrated skin. It’s not sensitive or acne-prone. I do get some dry patches and the occasional blemish if it’s that time of the month.

I truly believe hydration is crucial. My mom worked as a beautician and was knowledgeable about skincare. Hydration is something that was embedded at very early age. I remember my very first moisturizer was the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion; I was 14 at the time. I’ve had pretty decent skin; I have to give my mom credit for that. I also believe in good retinol and water; although I don’t drink enough. On to the review.

Ingredients and What it Does

Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil

According to Guerlain, the Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil is a revolutionary formula that combines the power of a serum, the richness of an oil and the freshness of a lotion. Replenishing micro-drops of oil are released at the very last minute to leave your complexion looking radiant. Your skin appears instantly smoother, plumper and revitalized. It offers skin all the power of Guerlain-exclusive ingredients Ouessant black bee honey, highly concentrated in this balm, and royal jelly, which work together to combat visible and future signs of aging.

The Ouessant Honey offers essential ingredients to revitalize the skin. It also contains Guerlain Exclusive Royal Jelly. This Royal Jelly is rich in exceptional nutrients and is a natural source of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and vitamins. It is produced in a protected environment and offers exceptional benefits for the skin.

Why I bought it

Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil

This product has been in my skincare wishlist for over a year. It was hard for me to pull the trigger. I imagined Kimberly Clark slapping me silly and saying, “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” But I fell for it. I fell for the packaging, the luxuriousness, and that cute bee on the bottle.

The main reason why I bought it is I love face oils. I truly believe anyone can benefit from a good face oil. As I mentioned, my skin is dry and needs oil. Oils are beneficial to my skin, and I felt the honey extract would be plumping and moisturizing. I’m also getting older and want to incorporate more anti-aging products in my skincare regime.

Review

Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil

At first impression, I found the fragrance a bit off-putting. Don’t get me wrong; it smells beautiful! The scent was created by famous perfumer Thierry Wasser, and described as “sunshine nectar with notes of honey, fresh and airy fragrances.”

I want to put it all over my body! But initially, I felt that I probably shouldn’t be putting something that smells this good on my face. I got over that quickly. I’m not sensitive to fragrance, and I do believe in the power scent. I feel if a product smells amazing it just makes the experience more enjoyable. However, if you are sensitive to fragrance, you will not enjoy this face oil.

The oil is not watery as the name describes, it feels rather rich to me which I don’t mind. Guerlain recommends that you press the oil into the skin and massage upwards. There’s a tutorial you can watch if you’re interested. I do the massage in the evening, but not in the mornings when I’m in a hurry.

I don’t use oil every day: it’s expensive, and I don’t feel I need it every day. After I use it my skin feels a little tacky; but not uncomfortable or greasy. Immediately my skin feels supple and soft. It also works well under makeup, and I have mixed it with foundation and liked the results.

 Final Thoughts

Overall, I enjoy the Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil, and I’m happy with the purchase. My skin looks brighter and toned. And I feel my skin has been plumper and smoother since using it. However, I feel that if you’re in your twenties, you don’t need this product. I think it’s better suited for people in their late thirties or older. Would I repurchase it? Yes, it’s lovely, and I recommend it.

Totally agree, ridiculously so! I heard Burt’s Bee has one called Complete Nourishment Facial Oil for 20 bucks, I’m thinking of doing a comparison on the two and seeing if there’s a real difference. xx

Do you know if gurlain has a perfume that smells like the watery oil? I love the smell of it. I’ve been scouring the internet trying to find out if any of their fragrances smell like it

      Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for your message! I don’t think Guerlain carries a perfume that smells just like the watery oil, but the note for the fragrance would be honey. Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum is a good option. Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal has a strong honey note, and TOM FORD Eau de Soleil Blanc is also a good option. I hope this helps! Xx
