The Bentley of Marula Oils?

Review | Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil (1 oz/$72.00). First, I have to say I haven’t had much luck with Drunk Elephant skincare in the past. I tried the T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and didn’t like it. The C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream is a favorite among many people; it was too drying for my undereye area. And the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum was okay, but not nearly hydrating enough for me.

Regardless I was curious to try their Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. And I’ve seen Renee from Gothamista rave about it several times on her channel. It’s one of her favorite face oils, and I trust her opinion. I thought, “I’m going to give this a go.” So here we are! Oh, and the usual disclaimer, I’m not affiliated with Drunk Elephant, and I purchased this product myself.
What it Does

According to Drunk Elephant, “this amazingly absorbable oil delivers clinically proven results to reverse the signs of aging and incredible antioxidant benefits against environmental stressors and free radicals. Look for a noticeable reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, redness, and blotchiness with improvement in skin’s elastic feel. Your skin will drink in this nutrient-rich oil leaving no residue behind. It is naturally anti-microbial and appropriate for all skin types, including the most sensitive.”

Ingredients

  • 100% Unrefined Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Seed Oil. It’s rich in antioxidants, Omegas 6 and 9 and Vitamins C and E. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s super hydrating and calms skin inflammation, redness, and sensitivity. Builds skin resilience, boosts collagen production and much more. It also has a non-greasy, ultra-light texture that absorbs quickly into the skin.
Why I bought it

The benefits of Marula Oil are endless, and it was the one thing missing in my skincare routine. I realize there are less expensive Marula Oils available on the market. For example, the Ordinary’s 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil is only 10 dollars. Renee has a fantastic video where she compares the two.

Review

First, the packaging is brilliant. Air, light, and moisture can often ruin skincare products. Drunk Elephant is all about protecting the formula, making sure the integrity is there, so we’re able to receive the best results and the bottles are cute too! It’s much more expensive because it’s pure and unrefined, straight from the pip, and that makes a significant difference.

I apply two drops to my face, neck, and décolletage and instantly my skin feels better and looks better. I have extremely dry, dehydrated skin and when I use the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil my skin glows, and the dry patches disappear. My skin feels instantly moisturized, smooth and nice to the touch. And I truly believe when you’re skin feels good, it will look good.

Putting makeup on dry flaky skin is pointless; this helps foundation and concealer go on smoothly and prevents creasing underneath the eyes. A little goes a very long way. Although it absorbs quickly; it’s still a thick hydrating oil. My skin craves it, but if you have oily skin proceed with caution. If you suffer from dermatitis or eczema, this will help tremendously.

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
I highly recommend investing in a Marula Oil even if it’s not this one. Marula oil is excellent and can be used in a multitude of ways. It’s great for hands, feet, cuticles, chapped lips. It even works for taming frizz although I haven’t used it on my hair; I will be reserving this one for my face. Do I recommend the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil? Absolutely. Will I repurchase it? Yes, it’s worth every penny!

It is! Apparently, elephants get tipsy by eating fermenting marula fruit from the ground hence the name Drunk Elephant. I like it, the elephant is my favorite animal. Xx
