Crazy for Kosås

Kosås

I recently picked up a few items from Kosås Cosmetics and wanted to share my thoughts with you. Kosås was founded in 2015 by Sheena Yaitanes. I follow Sheena on Instagram; she is absolutely gorgeous #girlcrush, and I respect her philosophy on skincare and makeup. Kosås is a young brand, yet if I were to describe them in one word, it would be confident. They currently offer three products, and I was able to create a full face makeup look. I love a good capsule wardrobe!

For those of you that find their name confusing, according to the website, “Our name comes from the philosophy of the five interconnected layers, or “kosas” of the self: the physical, energetic, mental, intellectual, and soul. It’s our purpose to cultivate beauty on every level.” Sounds deep, but do the products work?

Why I bought it

Kosås

I was first introduced to the brand by Lisa Eldridge; she used 8th Muse in a tutorial. I loved the results so much I immediately went online and purchased it. It was a wonderful purchase! More on that later. So when Neiman Marcus had their beauty sale, I took advantage and bought the Tinted Face Oil and a lipstick.

What made me gravitate towards the brand was first, all the nourishing ingredients they use, and that they appeal to everyone regardless of skin tone or age. And in case you’re wondering they don’t use parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, propylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, synthetic fragrance, and they’re cruelty-free.

Tinted Face Oil?

Kosas Tinted Face Oil

I was most excited to try the Tinted Face Oil (1 oz/$42.00); I’ve never heard of such a thing, tinted moisturizer yes, but not tinted oil. I thought it would be perfect for my dry skin. Shade 6 (Tan with olive undertones) is my exact match. It contains fantastic ingredients that hydrate and brighten the skin like red raspberry oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, and rosehip see oil. The Kosås website has the entire list of ingredients along with their benefits. I do wish it had an SPF.

First, I love the packaging! It’s very similar to the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua packaging; it’s very light and compact, perfect for travel. The consistency is thin and liquidy; you have to shake before use. It doesn’t have a strong or offensive scent, to me it smells like skincare. It’s light to medium coverage, although you can build to a full coverage by adding a few more drops. The name is a bit deceiving; if you’re cautious about using a foundation with the word oil in it, you don’t have to be with this. It feels very lightweight, and it gives me a radiant glow without looking oily or shiny.

It does look like I have something on my skin, not in a heavy or cakey way, but it’s not as skin-like as some of the other foundations I use. I actually prefer how it looks after a few hours when it’s settled. Overall, I like this product, and you can’t beat the ingredients. I feel like I’m doing something good for my skin every time I use it. Would I repurchase? I don’t think so, simply because I prefer the finish of the NARS Tinted Moisturizer to this.

My Muse

Kosas Color & Light Palette 8th Muse

The Color & Light Palette in 8th Muse (0.32oz/$34.00) is my favorite of all the items. If you’re like me and you enjoy cream products, you will love this blush/highlighter duo. It’s also full of natural ingredients such as rosemary extract, rice bran, and sunflower seed extract, which works as a glow booster while conditioning the skin.

The blush is a cool tone pink that gives a gorgeous, healthy flush to the cheeks; like you’ve been running all day. I apply one dot to the apple of my cheeks using my fingertips and blend; this has fantastic color payoff. It applies nicely with a brush as well.

The highlight is champagne shade with a tiny hint of pink. The formula very creamy and emollient. I apply it to the high points of my cheeks and Cupid’s bow, and it provides a very natural and subtle highlight, perfect for everyday or work. It’s beautiful on the lids for a quick eye look as well. The packaging is nice and sleek; it comes with a mirror which is always plus. It’s now a handbag staple for me. Would I repurchase? Absolutely!

Undone

Finally, I purchased the Weightless Lip Color in Undone (0.014oz/$28.00). It’s described as a neutral and has a semi-matte finish. The lipstick is similar to Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution formula because they’re ultra creamy and feel very comfortable. The shade is stunning; it reminds me a bit of MAC’s Spice Lip Pencil in lipstick form. It’s super opaque as well.

I think what makes it for me are again the ingredients they use like mango seed butter, jojoba oil, and green tea seed oil, which contains lots of antioxidants and anti-aging properties, love that! Would I repurchase? Yes!
