Review | May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

Oh, Honey…

May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

It finally happened. I gave in and purchased May Lindstrom The Honey Mud (100ml/$90.00). I know what you’re thinking, 90 dollars for a face mask? Yes, it’s ridiculously expensive, and it’s been on my skincare wishlist for over two years so after carefully reading positive review after positive review it was time to pull the trigger. Read on for my thoughts!

Why I bought it

May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

According to the May Lindstrom website, this product “gently purifies skin and dissolves impurities with white halloysite clay and restores skin’s moisture balance and heals inflammation with enzyme-rich raw honey.” I have been intrigued by the May Lindstrom skincare line, particularly this product for years. One of my goals for 2019 is to delve more into green beauty products, and I felt The Honey Mud would be a great start.

There’s something very appealing about her process; it’s very much like cooking and using the best possible ingredients without adulterating or degrading them. There’s clearly a passion for ingredients there, and I love that like myself May Lindstrom wanted to be a chef. I’m all about her tag line Comfort-food for your skin, cocooned in luxury’ #Amen

First, I adore the luxurious packaging. Most importantly, there’s a label on the box that clearly states when the product was made along with an open by date and batch number. They take the time to properly label each product to ensure that we’re able to enjoy and experience the benefits of the ingredients to the fullest. We’re not getting something that is mass produced or artificial.

We need to talk about the scent! Wow, this has to be the best smelling skincare product I’ve ever come across. It’s heavenly; delectable goodness. It contains Cacao Absolute Essential Oil, so it has a rich chocolaty scent. It’s not overpowering at all, it’s truly a pleasant fragrance that instantly puts me in a good mood. I just want to bathe in it. It’s has a pudding-like consistency, and it reminds me of tahini for some reason. My grandmother always had tahini in her kitchen.

Review | May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

The Honey Mud is an enzyme cleanser and a mask. I use it as both, but mostly as a mask because I want to keep it on my skin for as long as possible. To cleanse, I put a small amount on damp skin before I hop in the shower, and rinse it off at the very end. It’s very gentle cleanser; it’s not stripping at all and leaves my skin feeling clean not dry.

I see a major difference when I use it as a face mask. I use it at least once a week sometimes twice a week if I come home from work feeling like shit and need some pampering. The formula is so nourishing and hydrating. Afterwards my skin feels soft and plump and looks glowing and radiant. The more I use it, the more I love it. It truly is food for your skin.

Final Verdict

Review | May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

I love the Honey Mud, and I recommend it. I wish it wasn’t so expensive; $90 dollars for a face mask makes me want to cry, but I don’t think there’s anything like it on the market. If you’re looking for a luxurious face mask to pamper or treat yourself this one is fabulous. For me, it was definitely worth the splurge, and I intend to repurchase as soon as I run out. It’s a beautiful product, and I can’t rave about it enough!
