Project Pan 2019

Say Goodbye.

Project Pan 2019

Doing Forgotten Favorites last year encouraged me to shop my stash more. So I started thinking about what I could do this year to streamline my collection and get rid of products that no longer spark joy ala Marie Kondo. Then I saw Sandra’s Project Pan video. I have a difficult time finishing products whether it’s makeup, skincare or fragrance. She really inspired me to go through my collection, analyze it and determine what’s useful and what I have just for the sake of having it.

I’ve picked out ten items to show you. Some of these are products I love and others not so much. I’m excited to use them up once and for all and get them out of my stash. Challenge accepted Sandra!

Base

Kosås Tinted Face Oil, IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream

The first foundation I want to use up is the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. I’ve had this foundation forever; it’s the gift that keeps on giving. I’ve tried to use it up several times, and then I start using something else and forget all about it. There’s still a lot of product left in the tube. I use a tiny pump, and a little goes a very long way. It has wonderful coverage and works well on dry skin like mine. However, I won’t repurchase it any time soon. Recently I’ve been enjoying the YSL Touche Éclat All-In-One Glow Tinted Moisturizer, which I prefer.

Kosås Tinted Face Oil, IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream

The Becca First Light Priming Filter is the only primer I own. It feels light on the skin and gives a beautiful soft focus finish, but I don’t find that it improves the longevity of my makeup. And I can’t stand the smell; it smells like Pledge to me. It’s time to use it up and explore other primers.

Another foundation I want to finish up is the Kosås Tinted Face Oil. I like it, but I don’t love it. It’s a decent foundation; you get a decent medium to full coverage. Sadly, it’s not as hydrating as I thought it would be, and I don’t care for the finish. I mentioned this in my Kosås Cosmetics review; the Tinted Face Oil is the item I liked the least. The problem is it just sits awkwardly on the skin; it almost feels like a face mask. I’m going to try to make it work again. Otherwise, I know I’ll ignore it and it will sit in my collection for months.

Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer, Burberry Lip Glow

Limited Edition Makeup

Let’s talk about Limited Edition/Discontinued Makeup. I don’t know why we do this to ourselves. We buy it, love it, and then we don’t want to use it because we can’t have it again. I still have my last tube of Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation; it was my favorite foundation before Armani Luminous Silk. I couldn’t let go, so I kept it and never used it. It’s so silly; it’s time to stop that vicious cycle.

I’m finally going to finish my Dior Diorskin Nude Skin Perfecting Hydrating Concealer. Dior discontinued this a year or two ago. I don’t know why because it’s an outstanding concealer. It covers everything and without looking dry or cakey, it never settles into fine lines, and it has moisturizing benefits, so it smooths out any dry patches. Thankfully it’s still good. I love it so much, but it’s time to let go.

The Burberry Lip Glow in Lavender No.25 is also discontinued. I love Burberry lip products; they make incredible lipsticks. When I first saw this gloss I thought it looked unique; it’s essentially a clear gloss with a hint of lilac. Right now it looks cloudy from all the different lipsticks I’ve used it with. I love the formula; it’s not sticky and feels more like a lip balm than a gloss, but I have so many glosses that I constantly overlook it. I’m going to use it up and say adieu.

The By Terry Sun Designer Palette in #2 Light & Tan Vibes is an item I’ve been precious about and only use sporadically. It was limited edition and sold out quickly, so I’m treating it like that candle you only light certain times of the year because you don’t want to use it up. It’s a beautiful blush and bronzer palette; I love it so much and might as well enjoy it. I don’t think I’ll finish it anytime soon, but I’m hoping to at least hit pan.

Fragrance

Jo Malone Redcurrant & Cream

And then there’s perfume; I have way too many and want to downsize. Jo Malone Redcurrant & Cream was a limited edition fragrance from a few years back. It smells divine; the notes are redcurrant, strawberry, raspberry, and musk. It’s currently sitting in my collection because I can’t bring myself to use it up. Eventually, it will go bad, and I don’t want to waste it. Remind me to stay away from Jo Malone limited editions fragrances.

Skincare

Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich, LUSH Angels On Bare Skin

The Out of Africa Vanilla Shea Butter Body Oil is another item I’ve had for a while. Truthfully, I have a body oil addiction. My skin needs a lot of hydration, and I have several body oils. This one was hiding in the back of my bathroom cabinet. It still smells amazing; I forgot how nourishing this is especially in the winter. I know I’ll use it up quickly.

I’m working on getting through my Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich. It’s a nice moisturizer; I don’t have anything bad to say about it, but I don’t reach for it as much as the Clinique Moisture Surge Intense and I don’t care for the scent. Moisture Surge Intense is so much better, and there are other moisturizers I would like to try.

Project Pan 2019

Finally, I’m saying goodbye to the Lush Angels On Bare Skin Face and Body Cleanser. For me, this is more of a therapeutic experience. It’s an interesting concept; you’re meant to mix the product with water and form a paste. It’s supposed to be calming; there are even pieces of lavender inside. Unfortunately, it hasn’t made any noticeable difference in my skin, and I’ve used quite a bit already.

As a face cleanser, it’s mediocre. It doesn’t remove makeup well, and even as a second cleanse it falls short. I’ve always liked Lush body products, but I’ve never been impressed with their skincare. I’ve decided to use it as a body scrub, and finish it up.
