Self-Care Essentials

Body Care, Face Masks and more!

Self-Care Essentials | 2020

In these times, it helps to stay positive and embrace the beauty and joy that survives all around us. Self-care is crucial; it’s okay to take time to de-stress and feel fabulous. It’s not just about beauty products. I find what helps me when I’m feeling overwhelmed is taking breaks from social media, it helps my mind tremendously.

I also love dancing. Even if you’re alone in your room, dancing will shake off those bad vibes, and you’ll feel mentally and physically ten times better. And for you beauty lovers, here are my favorite self-care essentials that made 2020 a little less stressful.

A good foot cream is a must

Soap & Glory Heel Genius

Soap & Glory Heel Genius is the best foot cream I’ve ever used. I go through several tubes a year, and I never feel the urge to try another because it works so well. Living in Miami begins to take a toll on your feet because you tend to wear sandals all the time. This cream smooths away any rough spots, leaving my heels soft and smooth. The texture is thick but absorbs quickly, and it doesn’t feel greasy. It reminds me of pistachio ice cream, and it has a sweet peppermint scent. If you’re in the market for a foot cream, I highly recommend giving Heel Genius a try.

More scrubs

Jordan Samuel Skin Granita di Caffè Body Scrub

I’m addicted to scrubs; body scrubs, face scrubs, all the scrubs. It’s an essential part of any skincare or body care routine. This year, I picked up the Jordan Samuel Skin Granita di Caffè Body Scrub. The particles are not as abrasive as other scrubs I’ve used. It’s a much gentler body scrub, but my skin feels like silk after. Sadly, it’s not available now, but I’m looking forward to the new and improved version in the future.

I also discovered a few lip care items last year, the first is L’Occitane Meli-Melon Delicious Lip Scrub. It feels and looks like crushed melon pulp, and it actually contains fresh melon extract. I find that it’s not harsh like other lip scrubs. And it smells heavenly, I just want to eat it.

Beneath Your Mask Remedy Conditioning Lip Balm

The Beneath Your Mask Remedy Conditioning Lip Balm is another lip care essential. As someone with chronically dry chapped lips, this lip balm is so healing, I raved about it in a previous post. It helps repair and soothe my lips and keeps them soft.

Masks

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

My favorite sheet mask is the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Facial Mask. It’s my ‘in case of emergency break here’ mask. I use this when my skin is beyond parched and dull. I also use the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask once or twice a week. It’s not too rich or heavy; it’s not the kind of mask that sits on your skin. It has a great consistency, lightweight but nourishing. I put on a generous amount, and I don’t rinse it off. I use it as an overnight mask. If you have sensitive skin, proceed with caution.

May Lindstrom The Honey Mud

Finally, the May Lindstrom The Honey Mud is my love. It’s one of my all-time favorite, most indulgent skincare products. It’s self-care in a tub. I love it, and I’m thrilled it’s back in stock. Technically, The Honey Mud is a cleanser, not a mask; I use it as both. I put it on and hop in the shower, my skin just loves it. And it smells delicious, like honey and chocolate with a rich pudding-like consistency. It’s absolutely gorgeous. My self-care routine is not complete without it.

Hands & Body

Kiehl's Creme de Corps Smoothing Oil-To-Foam Body Cleanser

Speaking of indulgence, The Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Smoothing Oil-To-Foam Body Cleanser is my most-loved body wash. It’s perfect if you have dry skin because it’s an oil wash; it’s very moisturizing. The smell is incredible, it’s a sweet vanilla, almost caramel fragrance. The formula is thin, but lathers quite a bit. My skin feels clean but not dry. The only downside is I go through the bottle quite quickly.

Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Hand Wash

Another product I go through quickly is hand soap for obvious reasons. I might as well enjoy my hand wash if I need to use it multiple times a day. Molton Brownhand washes are lovely. They offer several scents, my favorite is the Rhubarb & Rose Hand Wash. It’s not overly floral, it’s fresh and fruity. Most importantly, it doesn’t dry out my hands. I also love Byredo Rose and Suede hand washes, and for a more affordable option, Bath and Body Works makes great hand soaps. Their Strawberry Pound Cake hand wash is currently in my kitchen.
