The Summer Edit

Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty…

The Summer Edit

…okay, I’ll stop.

Summer is officially here! Today I have another seasonal beauty edit for you. In case you don’t know the drill, this is where I go through my makeup files and pull out some old favorites for the season. In addition to that, I have some awesome newbies to add to the mix. These are the items I’ll reach for all summer long, the usual suspects if you will. Let’s get started!

The Summer Beauty Edit

Sun-kissed

Everyone wants a bronzy glow in the summertime. And although I live in Miami, I don’t have a 24/7 tan. In fact, I avoid the sun, so I’m pretty much Wednesday Addams all year long. I do like a little bronzer, but I can’t be bothered to fake tan. Recently in lieu of bronzer, I’ve been wearing the MAKE Universal Stick in Cedar. This stuff is magic!

I put it where the sun naturally hits my face; blend with a brush, and I’m left with a natural, healthy complexion. There’s no shimmer or glitter; it just looks as if I’ve been out in the sun all day. I find it to be a complexion booster, and I don’t feel the need for a tinted moisturizer. The best part is it can also be used for blush, eyeshadow, or even arms and legs. It’s truly a universal product ideal for summer!

Ginger Binge Baby

Fenty Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule, Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter

Speaking of universal products, the Fenty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule is another summer staple for me. There’s something about these colors that makes them universally appealing; it works for all skin tones.

Yes, it’s technically a highlighter, but I love it on the eyes! I enjoy a single wash of color, especially in the summertime. It’s quick and easy, and Ginger Binge is stunning. It catches the light beautifully, and makes a great blush too!

Let’s face it; I want everything from the Marc Jacobs Beauty Coconut Line. Have you seen a more dreamy makeup collection? I picked up the Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter last summer. The gel consistency feels light and comfortable, it looks gorgeous on the skin. I also find it lasts long even in the intense heat of Miami.

The Summer Blush

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush Suntouched

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Suntouched is a recent purchase, and I’m in love! It’s the most beautiful makeup item in my collection. The packaging is to die for. It is expensive, but I think it’s worth every penny. The product itself is gorgeous; the formula blends seamlessly and feels lovely. It doesn’t feel tacky or sticky, and it stays put. This blush stays on my skin for a full eight hour work day without touching up throughout the day.

Suntouched is a gorgeous true coral color; it’s very wearable. It provides a gorgeous flush and contains jojoba seed oil and gardenia fruit extract, which is full of good properties for the skin. With this product you’re getting style, and substance. I plan on using it all summer long.

Coral lips and tips

Chanel Le Vernis 534 Espadrilles, Chanel Coco Rouge Double Intensite Lip Colour 109 Orange Blood

I have to be honest; I used to hate coral. My mom said to me, “You’ll change your mind, you will love coral one day.” Don’t you hate it when your mom is right? Now I love coral; there’s just something about the color that’s so exotic to me. I can’t get enough of it in the summer; it looks bright and tropical. I have three coral lip options. Clearly, there’s fruity theme; totally unintentional I promise.

The Summer Edit, Coral lips ft. Chanel, Clinique and Clarins

The first and newest to my collection is the Chanel Coco Rouge Double Intensite Lip Colour in 109 Orange Blood. I purchased this strictly for the color; it’s stunning! You apply the color first, wait a minute then add the gloss on top. It doesn’t budge even with Bioderma, the only thing that works for me is the Clinique Take The Day Off makeup remover.

If you want a lip product that will last all day in the summer heat, this is the one. I will say it’s not very forgiving on chapped lips. Make sure to scrub and apply a good lip balm before use. Another favorite is the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Mega Melon. This is pretty peachy nude, perfect for every day. I love the formula; it adds hydration and shine to the lips.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil Tangerine

Lastly, the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Tangerine is my summer handbag staple; it goes everywhere with me. It looks and smells like Jolly Rancher candy. I love lip oils, especially in the summertime. It’s perfect for those scorching hot days when I don’t want to wear makeup, and my hair is in a ponytail, this adds a glossy shine and a nice tint of color to my lips.

Summer Nail Polish Edit

Tom Ford Nail Polish in 03 Coral Beach

It’s all about bright, juicy nails this time of year. First, Chanel Le Vernis in 534 Espadrilles; this one is on my toes pretty much all summer. Tom Ford Nail Polish in 03 Coral Beach is one my favorite polishes of all time; it’s the perfect coral. It was limited edition, but Essie’s Peach Side Babe is pretty much an exact dupe. And speaking of Essie, Cute As A Button is a blast from the past summer favorite for me.

Summer Scents

Guerlain Terracotta Fragrance

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau de Parfum

Finally, every summer I bring these two fragrances out from the archives. First, Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau de Parfum, a beauty blogger favorite that screams summer. The notes include ginger, coconut, mandarin, and vanilla. It reminds me of piña coladas.

My top pick is the Guerlain Terracotta Le Parfum. It has notes of coconut, orange blossom, and musk. Guerlain Terracotta is a sophisticated summer fragrance.

I hope you enjoyed this year’s Summer Edit! What are your summer go-to’s?

Such a beautiful look, lady! And I’m loving the FB Ginger Binge on the lids! I have a blush palette laying around that I’m about to start using as an eyeshadow palette for the summer.

Thanks for sharing all of your summer favorites! You always make me want to go shopping lol. Adding Essie’s Peach Side Babe (the Tom Ford dupe) and the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops to my cart. I love a nice, subtle glow and a pretty polish.

    Great post, love!

Awe thank you my love! So happy you liked it! You’re going to love the dew drops, it will last forever because you only need a tiny pump. I wish I could get my hands on that new eyeshadow palette, but my bank account won’t let me go there for now. So I’m just using Ginger Binge. I’m all about multi-purpose products and Fenty’s awesome for that. Let me know how you like Peach Side Babe. I bought the Tom Ford one first and didn’t realize it was identical until after – What happens when you nail polish addict. Xx
