God Save the Mini
What's In My Travel Makeup Bag? | 2018

Happy Sunday everyone! It’s good to be back; I was away on vacation for a few weeks. We went to Marrakesh and Ibiza for the first time, along with a few other places. It was an incredible trip; we had so much fun. For photos please check out my Instagram. Expect a lot of travel content coming your way. For today’s post, I thought I share the contents of my makeup bag. I love What’s In My Travel Bag videos and blog posts; I find them so helpful. Hopefully, this will give you some ideas if you’re planning a trip.

In the past I’ve made the mistake of taking too much or too little. I’m still trying to find a happy medium. This time around, I’m pretty pleased with my choices. This post will also serve as my May Favorites, it’s makeup I wore for the majority of the month.

Base

First, the makeup bag I used was the infamous Glossier pink pouch. Don’t overfill them because they do break easily. I think the Glossier bags are cute, but for liquids I highly recommend picking up a clear bag with a zipper. You can find them at Bed Bath & Beyond.

For travel, miniatures and multi-purpose products are a must. I took a mini sample of the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation; it’s my favorite foundation, and I decanted some of the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream into a small GoTubb. It has great coverage and SPF 50. I also brought my beloved Glossier Stretch Concealer, which I didn’t use as much as I thought I would surprisingly.

Forgotten Favorite

NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo

I have a forgotten favorite from the archives. It’s the NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo, ideal for travel. This is the Deep Throat/Laguna duo that was available a few years ago. NARS brought out several of these limited edition duos; I believe they had Sin/Casino as well. It’s the only blush and bronzer I used on the trip.

Brushes

Narrowing down makeup brushes was pretty easy; I took five in total. First, the It Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Complexion Perfection Brush #7. I’ve talked about it tons; it’s an excellent brush and a time saver. I don’t like applying foundation with my fingers; I prefer to use a BeautyBlender or a brush simply because I’m a hot mess, and I’ll end up getting foundation everywhere.

And I brought two dual-end eye shadow brushes as well; one from Smashbox and the other is MAC’s Dual Blending & Eye Shader Brush from the Rihanna collection which was limited edition. Dual-ended brushes are great for travel. Finally, I took a small Kabuki brush also from Smashbox and the Real Techniques duo-fiber contour brush.

Eyes

For eye shadow, I put together a MAC Pro Duo Palette with Woodwinked and Nocturnelle. I thought these colors would look great together, and now they make me think of Marrakesh. Nocturnelle is my favorite purple eyeshadow. Sadly, it’s been discontinued, I haven’t been able to find anything that compares. If you guys know of any dupes, please let me know in a comment – much appreciated.

Brows and Lashes

You can’t have enough brow products right? I took the Glossier Boy Brow and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. Both solid products, next time I think I’ll stick to just brow gel to save time. For mascara, I used the Smashbox Super Fan and the Benefit Roller Lash, both deluxe samples I wanted to test. Smashbox Super Fan was nice and lengthening, and Roller Lash was just okay.

The Best Mini Ever

Benefit Watt’s Up! Highlighter

I’ve taken this little guy with me on every trip for the last three years, and it’s still going strong. It’s a sample of the Benefit Watt’s Up! Highlighter. It’s a beautiful highlighter; some days I would just use it as shadow. The tiny tube is deceiving because there’s actually a lot of product inside. If you can get your hands on one – do it!

Lips

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Miranda May

I took three lip products with me. For a nude, NARS Barbara lived in my handbag for the entire trip. For a bold option, Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Miranda May. I think this color screams Ibiza; it’s so beautiful. And a mini of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick. I’m not much of a liquid lipstick fan. However, I feel Kat Von D is the liquid lipstick queen, and I wanted to bring a product that would last on my lips. Lovesick is a gorgeous shade.

Lastly, I want to mention two films I watched on the plane. First, A Fantastic Woman, I highly recommend it. It’s a such a powerful film. I fell in love the score; it was written by Matthew Herbert and it’s so beautiful. Please have a listen on YouTube. And I finally saw I, TonyaI loved it, it’s really entertaining, and the soundtrack is killer. I’m very much familiar with the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan ordeal. I was a teenager at the time and let’s just say, that story was everywhere.

Awe that means the world to me! You would LOVE Lovesick, it’s beautiful! I sometimes top it with clear lip gloss, it gives it a nice finish. Xx
