Summer Nails | Dita Von Teese & Tom Ford

Tom Ford Nail Polish

I have nail polish obsession and I’m constantly looking for new polish to buy. I usually pick my nail color based on the season but in Miami there’s only one season: Summer aka excruciatingly hot. To be clear, I’m not saying there should be rules. There’s really only one rule: Wear the nail polish color you want whenever you want. Personally I think for summer there’s no one hotter than Dita Von Teese and Tom Ford.

I’m a huge fan of Dita Von Teese. One year during Art Basel Dita (yes Dita, on a first name basis like we know each other) was in South Beach doing a signing for her book Stripteese. Unfortunately I was work and couldn’t attend. My good friend Niky stood in line for an hour and got me an autograph copy. I was a very happy girl. I really recommend her book BURLESQUE and the Art of the Teese. It’s full of beautiful photographs and she also includes her tips for a vintage Half-Moon Manicure. I have to admit I’m not as good as my mom when it comes to painting my own nails but I may have to give this vintage manicure a go. In the meantime here are my Tom Ford Nail Lacquer picks for this summer. I think Dita would approve.

11 Ginger Fire ($35/12ml) This is bright tangerine with a touch of shimmer. I know Tom Ford Nail Lacquers are expensive so I have a dupe: OPI My Paprika is Hotter than Yours! It’s pretty much identical to this.

08 African Violet ($35/12ml) A vibrant violet purple, Deborah Lippmann Between the Sheets is very similar to this one.

I feel a bit sheepish including these last two because they’re limited edition shades but if you can get your hands on them I highly recommend it. I believe Sugar Dune is still available in some stores. Both colors are simply stunning and perfect for all year long. Coral Beach is one of my top five favorite nail polishes of all time.

03 Coral Beach ($35/12ml) Orange-coral with a cream finish. Essie Peach Side Babe is a pretty close. To be honest I prefer Tom Ford’s Coral Beach both in color and formulation however this is a good option.

01 Sugar Dune ($35/12ml) Light beige cream with a slightly pink undertone. A good dupe is Nails Inc. Victoria Bamboo White; it’s not exact but close.
