Guerlain L’Essentiel
Today I have an exciting post for you! I’m reviewing the Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation (1 oz/$60.00). This is exciting for me because I rarely switch up my foundation, being that I’m a hardcore Armani Luminous Silk stan. I haven’t found anything that compares to it. I’m happy to report Guerlain L’Essentiel comes very close. Some background information I have dry skin and prefer a dewy foundation every single time. Now on to the review!
What it does
According to the Guerlain, L’Essentiel is “a long-wear liquid foundation with 97% naturally-derived ingredients with buildable coverage and a natural glow finish. An innovative formula enriched with skincare benefits that hydrates and balances the skin to improve complexion over time. The silky, smooth texture becomes one with the skin and complexion looks perfected, luminous, and fresh.” It has SPF 20, and skincare benefits.
Ingredients
- Red Algae & Tara Gum Extracts: Allow the skin to breathe and help support the skin’s ability to defend against pollution.
- White Cocoa Bean Extract: Combined with beauty-boosting ingredients, helps to maintain the skin’s natural balance, strengthen skin’s moisture barrier, and boost hydration.
Guerlain conducted a clinical evaluation on 38 women by a dermatologist; please check their website for results. This foundation contains fragrance. The notes include white almond, white tea, sandalwood, white musk, and tonka bean. If fragrance is an issue, you may want to skip this product altogether. Being that Guerlain is a perfume house, I feel it goes with the turf. Personally, the scent doesn’t bother me, and I can’t detect it after I apply it to my skin.
Review
What drew me to this foundation was the reviews; they were glowing no pun intended. The bottle is gorgeous; it looks like a perfume bottle. What I really adore is the formula. I don’t require a lot of coverage; all I want is a healthy glow and something that wears nicely throughout the day, and this foundation delivers.
It feels light and comfortable. My complexion is even, and my skin looks fresh and dewy. The fact it’s made with 97% natural ingredients is a big plus. I’ve haven’t noticed any skincare benefits just yet, but overall I love this foundation. It gives the most beautiful, natural finish, and I’ve really been enjoying it. It’s my skin, but better. I recommend it!
